Sunday Dinner, Chapter 15: In Which Cooking Proves Therapeutic

These days, Baby O is getting very big and strong, and can make even a restful day pretty uncomfortable for his/her mother, turning her into rather a Grumplestiltskin. Today was one of these days, and Mr. O was fully prepared to cook a quick and delicious dinner for us.

But I’d been looking forward to our planned dinner all week, so with Mr. O’s gentle encouragement, I got myself into the kitchen and started to cook.

And I felt much better.

Of course, it helped that it was a very quick recipe: a curry with cauliflower and lentils, accompanied by homemade raita (a cucumber/mint/yogurt sauce) and non-homemade lavash bread.

  1. Shire Squire says:

Now that the mint is growing in the patio pot, the shirelings are going to want to know how to make the mint cucumber sauce…

    • Mrs. O says:

Well, it’s pretty simple: a container (16oz) of plain Greek yogurt (we used Trader Joe’s), 1 cucumber, seeds removed and chopped very small, and about a quarter cup of chopped mint (a handful, since I never measure), and a teaspoon-ish of ground cumin.

The Os could demonstrate in person . . . although I do not dare make raita in the presence of the estimable FE.
