Of Plantains

Ever since Mr. O and I had lunch at a Cuban restaurant in Providence, I’ve been craving plantains.

And so I created a dinner around a food that I have never before purchased, prepared, or cooked in its original state. Here it is in pictures (and captions).

P.S. Did you know that plantains are botanically indistinct from bananas?  Me neither.

Rice, beans, red onion (appropriately seasoned)
